Desert Threads Art Prize 2023 ‘SACRED LANDS’
Spiritually Alive - Culturally Essential - Deserving of Respect.
Sacred Lands - Rekindle reverence for the land, increase respect for cultural diversity, stimulate dialogue about connections between nature and culture, and help protect sacred lands and diverse spiritual practices.
Australia’s Red Centre is the ancestral land of Anangu.
For over 30,000 years, they have been the protectors of this region, the Anangu have made their home in the lands around Uluru and have passed down their stories, songs, and language through generations.
Open to all fibre, thread & textile Artists. The Art prize accepts entries representing any use of fibre, threads & textiles and encourages the artist to explore art quilting and textile art practices.
This collection was hung at The Uluru Meeting Place Ayers Rock Resort 2023.
